Olive Dragon Fly – Bex Maini

Even though it’s only been two weeks since I was last in chatting to Jacqui, it’s been a busy time as usual and we’ve had plenty of adventures in the last of the summer holidays.  Read on to hear more and find a special offer at the bottom of this post too!

Amira’s Kitchen Cocktail Bar

I love the new look bar in Amira’s Kitchen, it now looks more like a bar than an extension of the restaurant with new stools and tables.  The stools are super comfy as well!  And along with the makeover is a new cocktail menu.  There are 5 options at the moment but they’re planning on expanding this if people are interested.  They currently offer – Pina Colada, Cosmopolitan, Mango Daiquiri, English Garden Gin Cocktail, Pomegranate Bellini.

I love the Bellini with a twist and the Mango Daiquiri is made with real mango puree so is lovely and refreshing with the crushed ice and a twist of lime.  My favourite was the English Garden one though, so delicious and I do like a nice gin cocktail served in a big bowl glass.

Cafe 212

I took the twins for brunch at Uckfield’s new Cafe 212 at the top end of town, it was lovely with plenty of choice and kid friendly too.  Check out my blog for the full review.

Oast Farm

We had a little jaunt down part of the Wealdway to visit Oast Farm cafe for an afternoon treat, we love walking down “Apple Alley”, despite the nettles that appear in the summer.

The twins are pretty used to keeping their arms up safely away from stings now and love having a nettle stick to move pesky overhanging ones out of the way.  Of course, their favourite flapjack went down well as usual while I enjoyed a coffee.

The Hurstwood

We had a lovely dinner at The Hurstwood while my parents were here.  I love the decor in there and the menu is always really interesting.  I enjoyed the seared tuna to start and crab linguine followed by a good old sticky toffee pudding.  Delicious!

England’s Medieval FestivalNow in it’s 26th year, this festival is as fun as ever!  We loved it so much last year and couldn’t wait to return, feeling a bit more prepared this time with our new wagon and my medieval style outfit 😉  We only made it for a day this year due to Nik’s exams (and rain being forecast!) but we enjoyed it and managed to fit in a few of our favourite activities again.  The joust is so much fun to watch, we really get into the cheering and watching the amazing horsemanship.  We also had a go at felting again, this year making unicorn horns and we loved watching the parade and battle by the castle as well as enjoying a little mead!

Weekend in London

The twins and I had a weekend in London with the in-laws while Nik’s studying.  They loved the train ride into town where I got to meet my gorgeous new nephew and the twins had so much fun with their older cousin as well as seeing the newest addition with all his hair!

They also loved running through the fountains at Granary Square, despite the lack of sunshine – they were quite shivery by the time I rung out their pants!

We also had fun ending in wet pants the next day, a much sunnier, warmer day to start September  The kids loved Plumstead Common paddling pool spending the afternoon/evening with my friend and her toddler.

Giving back to the community via bexphoto

As I’ve now launched my photography business properly, I wanted a way to give something back and given my personal experience with PND, I am offering a free “Bright” session to a fellow local Mum who has also suffered.  I want to give them the gift of beautiful photos as my own photos of my family help me through the bad times.  If anyone would like to enter, share your story with me via bex@bexphoto.com – all details will be kept confidential unless you give permission to share.

I’m also offering 10% off any package for the first 25 people who sign up to my VIP list.  You can check out my latest session here.
