Over £1,200 was raised on Friday 12th October at Dawson Hart Solicitor’s annual Charity Barn Dance at the Cinque Ports Club in Uckfield, which is organised by the firm’s fundraising committee.
This year all proceeds are going to their Charity of the Year, which is the Children’s Respite Trust, a local charity that helps families of disabled children within the community.
With the dance being sold out this year, the event is always one of their most popular events during the year and the support for the Barn Dance over the last few years has always been fantastic.
The music this year was provided by James Kerry Music, who taught everyone how to do-si-do and strip the willow. They were kindly sponsored by Taylor Tofts, a local Estate Agents in Uckfield and this meant Dawson Hart were able to raise more money.
Yasmin Iqbal, a Solicitor and one of the fundraising team at Dawson Hart says ‘This event is always guaranteed to put a smile on your face. There is no way to avoid letting loose and do-si-do-ing around the dance floor. It is great to be part of this event and to see so many people in the community come together to raise money for a local charity’.
There was an opportunity to have your picture taken in a fantastic photo booth and there was also a raffle on the night, with many excellent prizes being donated by local businesses in and around Uckfield, as well as a prize for the best dressed.
