I’m back a week early this time as it’s Jacqui’s turn to be away next week. I have lots to update you all on anyway so it’s probably just as well as we struggle to fit everything in every month!
This week I’ll be telling you all about the twins’ birthday party, the rainbow afternoon tea I prepared and the awesome balloon show by Danny the Idiot as well as our theatre trip to see Bing Live and a few reviews from Lisbon…
We loved the Bing Live tour which we saw in Eastbourne. Priya especially loved joining in with the dancing and singing, waving her arms in the air and generally being entranced by seeing her favourite characters live on stage! The Devonshire Park theatre is so pretty inside and very comfortable, we can’t wait to go back to see their panto next month!
I had so much fun making and decorating for the rainbow afternoon tea we planned for the twins’ 4th birthday party! We had rainbow jelly (so easy to make but prepare in advance as it takes time!), rainbow fruit plate, a tier of sandwiches, scones and cakes decorated with rainbow toppers. A rainbow teapot with colourful fruit tea and of course, two home-baked cakes for them which I decorated with bunting I made out of washi tape and straws. Read more about the details, awesome personalised rainbow mugs and food, including the cake recipes, over on the blog: https://www.olivedragonfly.com/2018/11/twins-rainbow-afternoon-tea-birthday.html
Danny The Idiot was perfect entertainment for 4-year-olds, especially my two who love balloons! His show was funny (the adults were in hysterics!), interactive, colourful and so much fun! I loved how he incorporated our rainbow theme and prepared all of his balloons so they fit in with the bright colours we had on the day. He juggled, did magic, made some awesome balloon sculptures and his grand finale was epic! Check out the blog for my full review… https://www.olivedragonfly.com/2018/11/danny-idiot-balloon-show-party-review.html
I’d highly recommend him, the kids have been asking for the funny balloon man to come back ever since! I think we need to book him in for next year.
While in Portugal, Nik and I booked a couple of walking tours via AirBnB and they were both excellent! I still haven’t had time to edit ALL my photos from our photography tour but I have reviewed the food tour we did with Ruthy of Treasures of Lisboa. She was amazing and included so much for us to taste and taught us loads about the area and food history too. We’d definitely recommend booking this early in your trip if you’re going to Lisbon as we got some great recommendations of other places to eat from Ruthy too!
You may remember I gave away a photo session to a fellow sufferer of post-natal depression. Jasmine was one of the brave ladies who shared her story with me and my readers. I’ll be posting some more of her story along with her slideshow when I’ve finished editing her gallery but here are a couple of sneaky peeks I sent to her recently. We had a lovely time at Lake Wood in Uckfield, despite the tired tears at the end, it’s a long way when you’re nearly two!
I’m also celebrating my gorgeous new gift vouchers too, the perfect gift for anyone who’s stuck on what to buy their loved one – something that lasts forever, the investment of a family photography session which includes prints and digital images. Also ideal if you need a last minute gift as I can hand-deliver them in Uckfield or post them out quickly or even send a digital version! You can buy them on my web shop and I’m giving 10% off to Uckfield FM listeners until Christmas as a special thank you, use the code UckFM10 to get your discount!
I’ll be back in January with an update on all things Christmas! I’m pretty busy until then, as well as editing photo shoots, I’m currently working on a home-decorated advent calendar with different activities for us to do every day instead of sweets behind the doors. They’ll all be fun Christmas things, including our panto trip, and some will have a theme of giving, such as donating to the local food bank so the twins learn about the other joys of Christmas, not just Santa and presents. I’m also excitedly crafting away making a rainbow themed wreath and we’ll be having a rainbow Christmas tree too this year! Keep an eye on the blog for a few updates as we prep for Christmas, the best way to stay in touch is on Facebook or Instagram if you want to see what we’re up to.
