The adverse weather forecast for the weekend looks likely to disrupt the local football programme again. But, after two postponements over the past week, AFC Uckfield Town will be hoping they can return to action tomorrow afternoon, when they are due to visit Crawley Down Gatwick in the Southern Combination League.
In local village football, Ridgewood’s match at Ashurst Wood has already been called off. Elsewhere in scheduled games in the Mid Sussex League, Nutley are at home to Sovereign Saints, while Buxted host Holland Sports and Newick entertain Hurstpierpoint Reserves.
Meanwhile in cup matches, Fletching take on South Park’s ‘A’ team on the Uckfield Leisure Centre 3G pitch. And Maresfield host AFC Acorns Reserves.
Lewes halted their six-match losing streak in the Betvictor Premier Division on Wednesday night with a spirited display in a goal-less draw against fourth-placed Hornchurch. Lewes will be aiming to build on that result tomorrow, when they visit play-off hopefuls Enfield Town.
Brighton and Hove Albion are on their mid-season break and so are without a fixture until next weekend.
And in rugby union, there’s another key match for Uckfield tomorrow in their bid to pull away from the relegation zone – they travel to Beckenham in Kent to face the Old Dunstonians.
Elsewhere in local rugby, Newick are away at Hove’s third team.
