Wealden Council working hard to maintain services

Wealden District Council officers are working hard to maintain council services during this time of uncertainty.

A spokesman said:

‘To demonstrate our response to the COVID-19 pandemic so far, we have produced an infographic. This includes the number of contacts into our Community Hub, which continues to help our most vulnerable residents. The statistics displayed are for the period 23 March – 30 April 2020′

‘Since then, the amount we have paid out in business grants has risen to £29.6 million. Whilst we had to suspend our garden waste service for 3 weeks during this time, this did mean that our waste and recycling collections could be maintained at a collection rate of 99.9%’

‘Although our offices remain closed to the public at the moment, we are operating business as usual. Over 300 council staff continue to work from home to keep our services up and running. To keep up to date with the latest government advice, follow our dedicated COVID-19 webpage. This includes health advice, details of support available for businesses and the wider community’

Contact the Community Hub if you or someone you know needs food, medical supplies or other support.

You can register using our online form or call 01323 443322 and we will put you in contact with groups in the community and voluntary sector who can help.
