Uckfield FMs Lee Everest is taking part in this years South Coast Mighty Hike in aid of McMillan Cancer support.
The walk is taking place in June and stretches 26 miles, the length of a marathon from Brighton to Eastbourne, across the beautiful South Downs, unlike a marathon though it’s all walking and not running.
Lee is part of a team called “Clubbers Hassocks” lead by Samantha Walsh who runs the Crowborough & Hassocks Clubbercise class on a Monday and Wednesday night and has several members from her classes involved in the Mighty Hike.
We asked Lee how he was feeling about the walk and he said “I am quite nervous but excited, we are just starting to train for the event now, 26 miles seems like a small number but in reality it takes allot of training to be able to do the walk without too many blisters, I have got a lovely new pair of walking boots ready for the walk in June”.
We asked Lee what drove him to take part and he said “it’s something very close to my heart, affecting some colleagues and close friends and most recently I lost a very much loved uncle to Cancer so the least I can give back is to support the charity in this way”
As part of the fundraising for the walk, Saturday 25th April there is a Glitter and Glow Party class to raise money for the Walk in June.
