The Uckfield Festival may have been cancelled this year due to the virus but the Festival Club goes ahead on YOU TUBE! from today, Friday 10th July
The festival committee have a announced that there will be on line entertainment every evening from Friday 10th to Saturday 18th July. There are also other events at some other times (see below)
There will be a variety of music, stories and plays “during this years ‘virtual festival'”

The Uckfield Festival is supporting the charity AudioActive, who support young people with music.
The charity website notes ‘AudioActive is a ground-breaking music organisation, working with young people at the meeting point of technology and contemporary youth culture. For us, music is an end in itself as well as a tool for social change, education and personal development. We are restless, unafraid and excited about what we do’

Friday 10th July – 6pm
Beth Ellwood, is a solo singer and is well known to the Festival followers as a wonderful singer and acoustic guitarist with an eclectic repertoire. Her sets include folk, rock and pop classics.
Saturday 11th July – 6pm
Ian Bruce is a Scottish folk singer and songwriter. The Festival said ‘We are so lucky to be able to get Ian to link up with our online Festival Club’ Ian is a
fine Scottish singer/songwriter and guitarist who plays traditional expressive folk songs with contemporary influences. He has his audiences singing, laughing and crying.

Monday 13th July – 6pm
Simon Joslin vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar.
Raised on listening to Country Music, Simon strayed into Punk, New Wave, Reggae, Electro (it was the 80’s!!!) but has come full circle and is now firmly in the Country and Americana Genre. Simon is a well-known singer and guitarist in the Sussex area and performs either solo or with his band, Louisiana Lightning, formerly known as Flatbed Ford, delivering a mix of country, country-rock and early rock ‘n’ roll. He is part of the team that runs The White Horse Folk Club.

Mel Hayes Performs her intimate versions of popular modern and classic covers, showcasing her enticing vocal and guitar playing.

Children’s afternoon- “Dancing with Bears” with Lucy & Jane
Lucy and Jane will keep the young ones entertained with a wonderful selection of songs and stories.
Wednesday 15th July – 6pm
Kevin Russell will need no introduction to our Festival Club – this will be his fourth appearance! Get ready for a wonderful showcase of acoustic guitar, Johnny Cash songs, from the Kevin Russell as the “Man In Black”

Classical evening with Julian Broughton on piano
Julian is well known locally as a piano teacher, conductor, Chairman of the Uckfield Music Club, and as a composer whose works have been performed by groups across the country. On the Thursday when we normally have the collaboration between the Uckfield Festival and Uckfield Music Club we are pleased that Julian will present a specially prepared short piano recital with works by Franz Schubert, Clara Schumann and Julian Broughton!
Friday 17th July – 6pm
Stuart Bligh- blues guitarist and singer extraordinaire – Always the biggest hit at the Festival club Stuart is a very popular local guitarist/vocalist, often seen
fronting his blues band, The Big Blue. This evening, it’s one man with his guitar, playing the blues as well as a variety of familiar and well-loved songs.
Saturday 18th July – 6pm
Denise Mangiardi- jazz singer, songwriter, classical composer. Denise has been playing and singing since she could talk. The musical influences present in childhood still have a strong influence in her music today. From the New York Folk, Latin and Jazz scene and artists like Laura Nyro, they all left a beautiful watermark on her music Couple that with some of her favourite jazz influences like Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea and Billy Holiday, it’s no wonder Denise produces such beautiful, memorable music.
Uckfield Radio Players present…!! on Uckfield FM!
Raw Talent, recorded some time ago by this specially formed Festival radio drama
group will be broadcast on 105 FM Uckfield Radio just after the 7pm news
on Thursday 16th July.
On Friday 17th July, again just after the 7pm news, our play Radio Ballet will also be broadcast. This will be particularly in memory of Martin Eastwood, who played the part of Victor, and who very sadly died earlier this year. We hope this small tribute to Martin will be fondly enjoyed by the Eastwood family and all Martin’s friends.
Support the Uckfield Festival and they will be back in 2021 for a more traditional festival!
