Clearing Downland Copse Uckfield

On Sunday morning,15th March a group of Volunteers got together to clear the Copse between the Drive, Lealands and Downland Copse.

The group consisted of Sussex Police, Police Cadets, The Churchcoombe Residents Association, Brighter Uckfield, The Uckfield Deputy Mayor Jackie Love and Uckfield Town Clerk Holly Goring.

The Uckfield Deputy Mayor Jackie Love said “Sussex Police and the Cadets joined in and supported the clean-up to help combat Anti Social Behaviour, the Cadets were amazing and worked hard with the group. It was lovely to meet them all and hear their enthusiasm towards helping in the community. They are an amazing group who will hopefully follow on and become officers in the future.Lots of bags of rubbish have been cleared along with fallen tree branches to ensure it’s clean and safe. Well done everyone”.

An idea from the clean up was to scatter wild flower seeds around the Copse to bring more wildlife in and give those that walk through it a more enjoyable walk. The Deputy Mayor spoke to a lovely lady walking through with her dog and heard how her son brings a bag when he’s out and cleans the Copse up, what an amazing young man.

If you can donate some seeds or wish to scatter some please do so we can ensure this is a beautiful area for all to enjoy and keep it nice and not used for ASB.
As a reminder, if you see any forms of ASB please contact Sussex Police so they can monitor and help.
