Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society are delighted to be able to announce that the Virtual Carnival has so far raised £2,358.
The money will be used to support a number of local good causes and organisations.
The society said on social media:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Uckfield. Everyone who has supported us, donated via our Crowd Funder link, put money in our buckets or helped in any way to put on this virtual event during the most challenging of times for event organisers.
“Our slightly crazy idea to go virtual was only made possible because of the support of the whole community.
“The response we had while visiting parts of Uckfield in fancy dress before Saturday evening and on social media during and after the Virtual Carnival has been amazing and UBCS are proud to have been able to bring something a little different to the town.
“There are a couple of special thanks this year. To Off the Wall Entertainment for the technical ability to go Virtual and to CJ Thornes for the loan of a vehicle so we could get round the town with our fancy dress collectors and our (sometimes questionable) choice of music.
“Let’s hope 2021 allows us all to meet up on the streets of Uckfield to enjoy a proper carnival once again”
