In the weekend’s local football, after superb back-to-back wins in cup matches over the past week, AFC Uckfield Town return to league action tomorrow afternoon, as they welcome fifth-placed Steyning to the Oaks for a Southern Combination League fixture, writes David Eggleston.
In the Mid Sussex Football League – weather permitting – Ridgewood host Mile Oak Reserves at the Maresfield Recreation Ground. Nutley visit West Hoathly, whilst Buxted are away to Holland Sports. There are also scheduled away matches for Fletching, who go to Portslade Athletic, and for Newick, who face Eastbourne Athletic.
Following their Sussex Senior Cup win in midweek, Lewes are back in league action tomorrow, when they host Wingate and Finchley in the Betvictor Premier Division.
And ¬¬¬in the Premier League, Brighton and Hove Albion will be hoping to continue their recent run of good form, as they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in one of their glamour fixtures of the season on Sunday afternoon.
In rugby union, Uckfield return to action tomorrow afternoon, looking to build on their first win of the season a fortnight ago. But, they face a stern test with a trip to second-in-the-table Ashford.
Elsewhere in local rugby, Newick have a home clash with Hove’s third team.
