Uckfield Weekend Sport

In the weekend’s local cricket, there’s another vital game for bottom club Uckfield Anderida, as they go in search of an elusive win with a visit to Lewes St Michaels, who are just above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere in the Sussex Cricket League, Buxted Park continue their promotion push with a home clash against Keymer and Hassocks.  Promotion-chasing Isfield host neighbours Newick, whilst Blackboys entertain Herstmonceux’s second team.  And there are away fixtures this week for Fletching, Maresfield and Nutley.

Meanwhile, the Sussex Sharks are in T20 Blast action this evening, as they take on local rivals Surrey in front of a sell-out crowd at the County Ground Hove.  England World Cup hero Jofra Archer is lined up to play for the Sharks, who also travel to Taunton on Sunday afternoon to face Somerset.

In football, AFC Uckfield Town continue their pre-season friendly programme tomorrow with a trip to Haywards Heath to face St Francis Rangers.  Last night, Uckfield had an impressive five-nil win over neighbouring Crowborough at the Oaks.

In other friendlies tomorrow, Lewes are away to the Metropolitan Police, while Brighton and Hove Albion go to Birmingham City.

Among the weekend’s local bowls fixtures, Uckfield are at home to Burgess Hill tomorrow afternoon.  There are also home matches tomorrow for Buxted Park, Newick and Nutley.

The Eastbourne Eagles speedway team welcome the Somerset Rebels to the Arlington Stadium tomorrow evening.

And finally, in show jumping, the Royal International Horse Show continues at Hickstead over the weekend, with many of the world’s leading riders in action this afternoon in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup.  The Show concludes on Sunday with the prestigious King George the Fifth Gold Cup.
