In the weekend’s local cricket, there was another defeat for Uckfield Anderida, who went down by five wickets at Pett. The in-form David Tungate top-scored with 38, as Uckfield made 167 for seven. But, despite losing early wickets, the hosts reached their target in the penultimate over.
Elsewhere in the Sussex Cricket League, there was an astonishing victory for table-topping Buxted Park at Bexhill’s second team. After being bowled out for 145, Buxted Park routed the home side for just 25. Darren Colaco took five wickets, as Bexhill lost their last seven wickets for only one run !
There was an exciting victory for Nutley, who won their top-of-the-table clash with Blackboys by two wickets off the final ball of the match.
A five-wicket haul for James Fellows helped Isfield to a 48-run win over Battle.
Meanwhile, Newick and Fletching both lost low-scoring matches by three wickets to Chiddingly and Tunbridge Wells Borderers respectively. And there was defeat too for Maresfield, who are beaten by 23 runs by Robertsbridge.
And finally, there was a good win for the Eastbourne Eagles speedway team at the Arlington Stadium on Saturday night, as they beat Newcastle by 59 points to 31.
