A productive start to the season today for Buxted Park CC with a win ………………………
On the beautiful Easter Saturday afternoon, Buxted Park met local rivals Uckfield Anderida in a friendly match to warm up for the upcoming league season. Although short of a couple of key players, Buxted put out a strong team against the home side who were not at full strength. Batting first, Buxted posted 243 off forty overs with nearly all the batsman benefitting from the favourable conditions to get some early season runs on the board.

Thirteen-year-old, Alfie Hunter, led the way with his first Saturday side fifty in an innings displaying great maturity and no little skill. Liam Olive, made a quick fifty, with Tom Clift (46), Gareth Clift (31) and Redding Barnes (33) all contributing.

Despite good starts from Tungate (25) and Taylor (19), Uckfield were never really in the hunt and their innings closed on 85 all out. The wickets were shared between the Buxted bowlers, the most successful being the spin duo of Dom Heater (3 for 5) and Gareth Clift (2 for 15). Having missed out with the bat, Fin Coddington enjoyed a fine day in the field taking 3 catches.

On Sunday Buxted Park take on Laughton in the first round of National Village Cup at home.”
