Cricket – Nutley v Seaford

Rhys Cummins bowling to Nick Avis

Nutley 143 for 2 beat Seaford 3rds 141for 9

Nutley’s unbeaten start to the season continued with an eight wicket home win against Seaford 3rds.

On a surprisingly lively wicket, Seaford struggled having been asked to bat first and found themselves 3 wickets down for just 2 runs before Justin Squires (19) showed that attack was the best form of defence to put some runs on the board against an accurate opening spell from Nutley’s bowlers. Gavin Wright (19), Rhys Cummins (35) and Oskar Weisz (22) steadied things to see the visitors to 141 for 9 at the close of the innings. Warren Freer (3/16) was the pick of the bowlers who was well supported by Nick Avis (2/21) and Alan Poulter (2/32).

In reply Nutley lost two early wickets to a lively spell from Cummins (2/42) before Avis (58no) and the in form Clive Croft (53no) took control to see the hosts to victory at 143 for 2 with eight overs to spare.

Next week Nutley visit Hailsham 3rds
