Nutley 172 lost to Hailsham 3rds 200
Nutley slipped to third place following a home defeat in a match that could have gone either way.
Having been asked to bat, Hailsham made an aggressive start which contributed to their regular loss of wickets as Paul Carter (3/16) kept things tight before Harry Chatfield (68) and Andrew Swansborough (35) took control and saw the visitors to a total of 200. Nick Avis (3/57) chipped in with regular wickets. Nutley’s reply stuttered until a breezy knock from Alan Polter (20) picked up the pace. Avis (40) and Mark Reed (63) put on 70 for the sixth wicket to give the hosts sight of victory but Reed was left with too much to do and he was the last to fall as Nutley fell for 172. Ed Brook (4/25) was the pick of the Hailsham bowlers.
