Busy weekend of sport in Uckfield & the villages

In tomorrow’s local cricket, bottom-of-the table Uckfield Anderida will be looking for a morale-boosting win, as they host Polegate and Stone Cross.  Play at the Victoria Ground gets underway at one o’clock.

Elsewhere in the Sussex Cricket League, Newick are at home to Ringmer, whilst Maresfield entertain Lewes St Michaels and Fletching host Rye’s second team.  There are also home fixtures this weekend for Blackboys and Nutley against Hailsham’s third eleven and Hadlow Down respectively.

Meanwhile, there are away matches for Buxted Park and Isfield.

And, Sussex’s county team begin a four-day tour match at Arundel on Sunday morning against an Australian ‘A’ team.

Among the local bowls action this weekend, Uckfield are at home to Speldhurst tomorrow afternoon, while on Sunday Newick hold their annual Ladies Day.

In speedway, it’s a busy weekend for the Eastbourne Eagles.  They travel up to Leicester this evening for the second leg of their Knockout Cup quarter-final tie with a 24-point lead from the first leg.  The Eagles then welcome the Edinburgh Monarchs to the Arlington Stadium tomorrow evening for a Championship clash.

And finally, on Sunday morning, the annual Uckfield and District Lions 10k Fun Run takes place.  The race starts from Uckfield rugby club in Nevill Road at 10 am.
