Over the weekend of 18/19 May the South East Section of the Veteran Car Club are holding a rally based at the East Sussex National Hotel, Uckfield.
There will be 25 cars in total, the oldest a 1902 De Dion Bouton and the youngest a 1915 Model T Ford.
On Saturday the cars will be leaving the hotel from about 9.30 am and driving the country lanes to Middle Farm at Firle for coffee passing through the village of Laughton. From Middle Farm they will then continue through Hailsham, Polegate and Wannock to Filching Manor where they will enjoy a picnic lunch before visiting the motor museum and some drivers may have a go at go karting.
From Filching they will return via Wannock, Polegate, Stone Cross, Hailsham, Upper Dicker, Wick Street, East Hoathly, Palehouse Common and back to the hotel around 4 – 5 pm.
Sunday morning they will again be leaving the hotel from about 9.30am and driving to Chilley Farm for coffee via Blackboys, Waldron, Horam, Magham Down, Windmill Hill, Boreham Street and Wartling and returning to the hotel via Horsebridge , Coggers Cross, Chiddingly and Palehouse Common.
The rally finishes after lunch at the East Sussex National Hotel.
Some of the cars are old enough to take part in the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run which takes place on the first Sunday every November. Cars must be manufactured in 1904 and earlier to be eligible to take part in the Brighton run.
