AFC Uckfield Town ended their league campaign in style on Saturday with a convincing four-nil win over Hassocks at the Oaks. Uckfield’s goals, which were all scored in the first half, came from Dee Okojie with two, Brett Patton and Callum Smith. The victory sealed Uckfield’s highest-ever finish of seventh in the top tier of County League football.
It was a notable day also for Ridgewood FC. Their two-nil win in their final match of the season at Ardingly clinched promotion from Division One of the Mid Sussex League – which remarkably is the eighth successive year they have been promoted.
Elsewhere in local village football, Buxted were beaten six-nil at home to Lindfield.
Lewes’s final game of the season ended in a goal-less draw at home to Hornchurch. Lewes finished in eleventh place in the Bostik Premier League table.
And, Brighton and Hove Albion edged closer towards Premier League safety following a one-all draw with Newcastle at the Amex Stadium. With two games of the season remaining, the Seagulls are four points clear of third-from-bottom Cardiff.
