There is an open day in Bridge Cottage on Saturday 12 October, 10-00 am to 2-00 pm to which we invite anyone who has pictures or items relating to the shops in the Framfield Road/New Town area of Uckfield.
Bridge Cottage would particularly welcome anyone with pictures, catalogues, price lists and similar ephemera relating to shops and businesses. They might be about the laundry, a pub, post office, fish & chip shops, any of the shops in the area, the builders’ merchants, the railway station and goods yard or any other business. While we have plenty of relevant material, we are particularly keen to assemble more pictures and ephemera for the exhibition.
Anybody who can describe the area since c. 1940 from personal memories (or who has a relative who can) will be particularly welcome.
If anyone cannot attend on 12th, but would like to let us know of anything mentioned above, please contact Bridge Cottage by telephone or email.
The revised date for the exhibition is 25 January to 1 February 2020 (closed Sunday 26 January). Admission will be free.
Further information about the exhibition will be issued closer to the time, but the above release brings you up to date on current planning.
