Uckfield Lions help local Baby Bank charity Baby2Baby

On Thursday 31st October 2019 members of Uckfield Lions Club, President John Carvey, David Airey and Peter Bostock presented Leila Parker and Hannah Powell of Baby2Baby with a cheque for £500.

Started by two local mums (Leila and Hannah ), Baby2Baby collects donations of baby and children’s clothing and essential items and redistributes them to families in need in East Sussex and surrounding areas. This time last year Baby2Baby was just starting to take off. They’d been using their homes (conservatory and shed!) as places to keep donations, and were gradually moving things over to a little kitchen at Crowborough Squash Club. This enabled them to move things out of their homes and into a public space so they could start sharing Baby2Baby with volunteers.

By the time they moved in, they had outgrown the space and needed to move out. In March they found a new home in High Hurstwood. As demand continued to grow, they moved into bigger a unit on the same plot, and with the help of volunteers, the move was relatively straight forward and ‘Baby2Baby HQ’ was born.

Baby2Baby has recently launched AndBeyond which sees its service expand to help families in need with children from 0 to 11 years old. The funds will go towards essential items such as new mattresses for cots to ensure babies have safe places to sleep, and underwear, PJ’s and bedding for older children.
