In Saturday’s local football, there was another terrific win for AFC Uckfield Town, as they trounced Broadbridge Heath six-one at the Oaks.
Matt MacLean scored twice for Uckfield, whose other goals came fr.om Callum Smith, Ellis Cormack, Bailo Camara and Dee Okojie. The victory has moved Uckfield up to sixth place in the Southern Combination Premier Division table. Their next game is the semi final of the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup on Wednesday when they face Horsham YMCA at Shoreham FC’s ground.
In the Mid Sussex League, Buxted lost three-one at Eastbourne Rangers. Nutley crashed to a six-nil defeat at Charlwood. Ridgewood were two-one winners at Ansty Sports and Social Club, while Fletching beat AFC Uckfield Town’s third team five-two. Elsewhere, Maresfield lost two-one to Willingdon’s third team, and Newick were beaten three-nil by Eastbourne Athletic.
In the Bostik Premier League, there was another disappointing result for Lewes, as they went down to a two-nil defeat at home to leaders Dorking Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion are through to tonight’s draw for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, following a two-one win over Derby County at the Amex Stadium.
And in rugby union, Uckfield remain on course for promotion following a narrow 27 points to 24 victory at local rivals Eastbourne.
