Uckfield Allotment Competition Winners announced

The winners of the Uckfield Allotment Competition 2019 were announced at the Annual Allotment Conference held at the Civic Centre on Wednesday 11th September.

Once again this year, the allotment competition was judged and sponsored by Staverton’s Nursery, Halland.

The judges, Mark Woodhams and Sam Cottingham, were impressed to see the quality and variety of produce that was being grown across all the allotment sites in Uckfield.

The Uckfield Mayor Cllr Spike Mayhew made the presentations to the winners of the Best Kept allotments who were:-

Ridgewood – Mrs Gardner, Bird in Eye – Mrs Turner, Framfield Road – Mrs Berry and West Park – Mr Dawkins and Bell Lane – Mr Huxley who was not present

The judges decided the overall winner in this category was Mrs Berry whose name will be added to the plaque held at the Civic Centre

The Most Creative Allotment winner was unanimously judged to be Mrs Berry.

Unfortunately, this year, there were no entries for the children’s category for the Best Wigwam of Runner Beans.

Uckfield Town Council would like to thank Staverton Nursery for sponsoring this competition and providing the judges and all the prizes.
