Two fires on Ashdown Forest

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a wild fire in Millbrook Hill, Nutley, at 12.31pm today.

Seven appliances are currently at the scene, along with a Command Support Unit, and firefighters are tackling a fire, covering approximately 400metres. Please avoid the area whilst crews are dealing with the incident, as it is still ongoing.

Later, fire crews are currently tackling a second wildfire in the Ashdown Forest.

Four appliances were mobilised to Kidds Hill at 13.37, including crews from West Sussex. One hose reel jet is being used to tackle the 200-metres gorse and undergrowth fire. The incident is still ongoing and so please avoid the area.

Then, at 3.28pm, it ESFRS posted on social media to say that the second fire in Ashdown Forest had “escalated to a six appliance incident with a Land Rover specialist fire vehicle en-route”.
