Nutley 146 for 6 tied with Polegate 2nds 146 for 7
Nutley ended their 150th year with a tie against Polegate for the second time this season, a result which secured third place and denied Polegate the title.
Polegate won the toss and opted to bat in the hope of securing a 30 point win but made a really slow start scoring just 24 from the first 12 overs. Nick Corbett (37) and Andrew Johnson (31) picked up the run rate a little but Oskar Ainley (3/27) and Alan Poulter (2/31) kept things in check as they backed up the good work done by the opening bowlers. A brisk knock from Abhinav Pandey (37no) tookk the visitors to a total of 146 for 7.
Nutley made a positive start before two quick wickets saw Clive Croft (31) and Sean Fuller (27) play patiently to put the hosts in a commanding position despite the efforts of Dan Bartlett (2/25) and Corbett (2/21) A quickfire 22 from Nick Parsons took Nutley to within 20 runs of victory when play was suspended for twenty minutes due to a downpour. Young Ryan Hover (1/26) was entrusted with the final over with 4 runs required and he held his nerve as he restricted the batsmen to just 3 and the game end in a tie with Nutley on 146 for 6.
