On Thursday 21st November 2019 Uckfield College once again played host to the Rotary School Master Chef Competition.
The annual Uckfield College Masterchef competition took place this week with a selection of chefs from across the year groups taking part in a bid to show off their culinary skills. With a wonderful array of ingredients and prizes being provided by the Rotary Club of Uckfield. The winner will go forward to the District round on the Rotary Young Chef Competition in the new year, and Rotarian Howard Dingwall was on hand to present the prizes.
The standard of dishes this year was again very high. The judges,chefs Matt Ridley of the Highlands and Martin Doyle were extremely impressed with the amazing food the students produced. Over the two hour cooking session every student that took part performed very well to professionally produce their two chosen dishes. The winner was Poppy Beard in Year 10 with runners up prizes being given to Alfie Morrison (Y8) and Sadie Chant (Y12).
The winning menu comprised of a main course of Saffron Ravioli with Ricotta ,Basil and Prosciutto filling served with a tomato sauce and dessert of Passion Fruit Pudding.
This year the ‘Dish of the day’ award for an outstanding food item, was awarded to Robyn O’Connor (Y9) for her delicious Cardamom and Bayleaf Choux Eclairs
Well done to every student who applied and took party in this year’s competition as always you have made the Food Department of Uckfield College extremely proud.
