75th anniversary of VE Day will be celebrated in Uckfield

The end of World War Two will be commemorated in Uckfield next year to mark the 75th anniversary of the cessation of war.

The 75th anniversary will tall on Friday the 8th May which will be the early May Bank Holiday.

A ‘Shared Moment of Celebration’ will take place between the 8th and 10th May 2020.

As dawn breaks on the morning of the 8th May it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe.

Nationally, at 3:00pm the Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of WW2.

At 7:00pm the ringing out for Peace in Churches and Cathedrals.

There will be the opportunity for street parties and celebrations at pubs, clubs, hotel, village greens and local halls.

A working group is being set up by Uckfield Town Council to co-ordinate and plan celebrations in Uckfield.  On previous occasions events have been held at Victoria Pleasure Ground with the lighting of the Beacon.
