Nutley 92 tied with Polegate 2nds 92
An unlikely low scoring tie on a perfect cricketing day kept Nutley unbeaten and at the top of the league at the half way point of the season.
Having elected to bat Polegate lost wickets regularly to Nutleys consistently accurate bowlers and only Dan Bartlett (27) ensured that the hosts reached some form of respectability to see them all out for 92.
Two wickets each for Paul Carter (2/21), Alan Poulter (2/29), Nick Avis (2/24) and Nick Parsons (2/9) all kept the score in check with the miserly Warren Freer (1/7 from 6 overs) also playing a big part.
In reply Nutley made hard work of what should have been a comfortable target against an inspired spell from Bartlett (4/9 from 8 overs) as he and Stuart Conroy (3/46) reduced the visitors to 28 for 5. However a partnership between Freer (30) and Poulter (12) was followed up by a brisk knock from Carter (18) and took Nutley to 91 for 8 before the final twist. Polegate never gave up and Bartlett returned to clean up the tail for the match to finish in an improbable tie.
