Cricket – Nutley 116 lost to Blackboys 146 for 6

Mark Reed

Nutley slumped to another defeat to seriously dent any promotion hopes they may have had.

Having been asked to bat, Blackboys made a bright start before being pegged back by the visiting bowlers as only Harry Funnell (65) made any real progress. Nick Avis (3/41) and Alan Poulter (2/28) chipped away at the middle order before a brisk knock from Colin Albright (30no) saw the hosts to a mediocre total of 146 for 6.

Nutley’s reply started really slowly as John Britton tied them down with miserly figures of 6 overs, 5 maidens, 1 run, 2 wickets!!

Nick Parsons (24) appeared to be taking some control until Sridhar Jayakumar stunned everyone with a superb catch to dismiss him. Paul Carter (25) kept the runs coming but the damage was already done as Nutley fell for a poor 116. For Blackboys Sam Telford (3/35) was well supported by Gary Funnell (2/21) and Colin Eade (2/31)
