AFC Uckfield Town continued their recent impressive run with their fourth successive away win, as they defeated Hassocks three-one in the Southern Combination Premier Division.
All of Uckfield’s goals came in a five-minute spell midway through the second half from Bright Temba, Bailo Camara and Matt Maclean, before the home side netted a late consolation.
In minor league football, there was an amazing result at Nutley, who lost to Ashurst Wood six-five. And there were also goals a-plenty in Ridgewood’s cup game at Crawley Devils, with Ridgewood on the wrong end of a seven-three scoreline. Elsewhere, Buxted drew one-apiece with AFC Uckfield Town’s Reserves, whilst Newick shared the points in a two-all draw against Oakwood Reserves.
Lewes remain top of the Bostik League South after a four-two win at Phoenix Sports.
And Brighton and Hove Albion moved up to 12th place in the Premier League, four points clear of the relegation zone, after their biggest win of the season – a four-one victory over Swansea at the Amex Stadium.
In rugby union, a much understrength Uckfield were beaten 55-nil at Eastbourne in their local Sussex Cup semi-final.
And finally, subject to an early morning precautionary inspection, there’s another National Hunt race meeting at Plumpton this afternoon, with the first race due off at two o’clock.
