In Saturday’s local football, there was another excellent result for AFC Uckfield Town, as they secured their third successive away win, thanks to a three-nil victory at Lancing. Uckfield’s goals came from Anthony Storey, Regan Smith and Matt Barbosa. In an eventful game, Uckfield goalkeeper Louis Rogers saved a first-half penalty, and Lancing were reduced to ten men after half an hour.
In minor league football, Ridgewood were beaten three-one by Balcombe Reserves. But, there was another big win for Fletching – they defeated DCK Maidenbower Reserves six-nil.
The games involving Buxted and Nutley were postponed.
Lewes were knocked off top spot in the Bostik League South, after their home clash with Carshalton was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
And, in the Premier League, a penalty save in the last minute preserved a point for Brighton and Hove Albion from a one-all draw at Stoke.
In rugby union, Uckfield’s first team were without a fixture this weekend. Meanwhile, Newick lost by 17 points to 12 at home to Worthing Azurians.
Finally, for local horse racing fans, there’s another meeting at Plumpton this afternoon. The first race is due off at a quarter past two.
