In Saturday’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town came back from a goal down to earn a point from a one-all draw at Littlehampton. Matt Black scored Uckfield’s second-half equaliser.
In the Mid Sussex League, Buxted lost five-nil at home to Rotherfield, but there was a five-nil victory for Nutley at AFC Haywards. Meanwhile, Maresfield lost three-one at Handcross Reserves.
Elsewhere in cup matches, Fletching lost four-three after extra time at Scaynes Hill, whilst Newick were beaten two-one at East Grinstead’s third team.
In the Bostik League South, Lewes took a big step towards promotion with an excellent three-one win at fellow promotion hopefuls Corinthian Casuals.
Brighton and Hove Albion missed the chance of pulling further way from the relegation zone in the Premier League after their one-all draw with Huddersfield at the Amex Stadium.
And in rugby union, there was a big result for Uckfield on Saturday, as they defeated local rivals East Grinstead by 25 points to 14 at Hempstead Fields to finish runners-up in Sussex League One and so qualify for a promotion play-off against the runners-up in the corresponding Kent League.
