In Saturday’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town rounded off an excellent week with a convincing three-nil victory at Lancing in the Southern Combination League. Uckfield’s goals, which all came in the second half, were scored by Callum Sherriff, Matt MacLean and Ellis Cormack.
In the Mid Sussex League, Buxted lost three-nil at Lindfield, and Nutley went down four-one at Copthorne Reserves. Ridgewood’s first team were three-one winners over AFC Varndeanians’ third team, whilst Fletching drew two-all with Ridgewood’s Reserves. Elsewhere, Newick were beaten three-two at home to Ditchling Reserves, and Maresfield’s match was called off.
A last-gasp equaliser enabled Lewes to come back from two-nil down and draw two-all with Hemel Hempstead in their FA Trophy clash. Lewes travel to Hertfordshire for the replay tomorrow evening.
And Brighton and Hove Albion had to settle for a point from a one-all draw with ten-man Leicester at the Amex Stadium, with the visitors equalising with a late penalty.
