In tomorrow’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town will be hoping to re-stage their FA Vase third round tie with Sutton Common Rovers, which was postponed due to the weather last Saturday.
Uckfield, who are the only team from Sussex still left in the Vase, will be aiming to continue their run by reaching the last 32, but they’ll face a stern test from opponents who are riding high in second place in the Combined Counties League Premier Division. Kick-off at the Oaks is at 3 pm, with Uckfield hoping for a big crowd to spur them on another step on the road to Wembley.
In local village football – again weather permitting – Buxted are at home to Balcombe, whilst Nutley visit AFC Varndeanians Reserves, and Ridgewood go to Ardingly. Fletching host Buxted’s second team, and Maresfield entertain neighbours Newick.
Back-to-back home wins over the past week have lifted Lewes up to fourth place in the Bostik Premier Division. Tomorrow, Lewes could climb the table even further, as they visit third-in-the-table Bishops Stortford.
And following their excellent win over arch rivals Crystal Palace in midweek, Brighton and Hove Albion will be looking to cap off a fine week with a victory at struggling Burnley.
In local rugby, Uckfield look to continue their amazing unbeaten run tomorrow, as they host bottom club Ditchling. Kick-off at Hempstead Fields is at two o’clock.
Elsewhere, Newick are at home to Midhurst.
