Cricket – Ringmer v Nutley

Ringmer 215 for 5 beat Nutley 209 for 9

There was consolidation both top and bottom of the league for both teams after a good match which saw an improved performance from Nutley despite the loss.

Having been asked to bat Nutley lost an early wicket but Ian Ritchie (70) and Nick Avis (56) provided a solid platform to dream of a big score. Nick Parsons (62) made a brisk half century to maintain the momentum. However, the final push never came as Nutley crashed from 193 for 2 to a final total of 209 for 9! Gary Holder (5/16) was the pick of the home bowlers with good support from Ryan Packham (2/25).

Ringmers reply got off to a slow start as Nutleys opening bowlers again bowled well with little reward. Graham Pitts (86) provided the foundation with a solid knock and was well supported by Dave Peacock (47) as the hosts increased the run rate. Packham (40no) saw the hosts home at 215 for 5 aided by several dropped catches which contributed to Nutleys downfall.
