The Uckfield Carnival is just a couple of weeks away and this year events will remember the fallen in the World War 1 which took place between 1914 & 1918.
The society is looking to find 132 volunteers to take part in a tribute during Bonfire Prayers and anyone who has a connection with any of the fallen on the towns memorial plaque are asked to contact the email@example.com
The traditional fireworks will take place on the Holy Cross Playing Fields on Friday August 31st from 7:30pm. The crowds will be entertained before the fireworks by Uckfield FM and it is suggested that people come along early and picnic.
The following day, Saturday September 1st is the carnival day starting off at 9am with a street collection.
At 1:30pm the Children’s Fancy Dress Procession with the Carnival Prince and Princess, Uckfield Performance Ensemble will start this year, from the Uckfield Station Car Park.
The Children’s Grand Procession will go up the High Street to Southview Drive and return to the Holy Cross School Field for judging.
At 6:30pm the Adults Fancy Dress judging takes place in Elizabeth Gardens off Grange Road.
The Tableaux assemble in Bell Lane at 6:45pm.
The Grand Torchlight Procession will leave Grange Road at 6:45pm and make their way around the town. 20 societies across Sussex have been invited.
At 9pm the Final Torchlight Procession will leave Southview Drive and at 9:10pm there will be Bonfire Prayers outside the Cinque Ports Club at the top of the High Street.
The event is a big fun raiser and last year over £4,000 was collected on the route. Programmes are available in several outlets in town including Allsorts, Ridgewood Post Office, Gale and Woolgar, Bishops Butchers and Luxford Restaurant. The cost is £1.00.
Uckfield FM will be broadcasting the events from the High Street live on 105Fm and across the world on the internet for friends to listen.
