Wealden District Council held an event today called ‘Wealden wants you! Find out how to become a Councillor’

The event was held at the Uckfield Civic Centre with representatives from Wealden District Council and political parties.

The election will take place in the 2nd May 2019 so is plenty of time for potential candidates to find out what the role involves.

“With 45 seats on Wealden District Council, as well as many seats on local parish and town councils, up for election on 2 May 2019 this is a great chance to get involved in making the decisions that will shape the future of where you live” said Councillor Bob Standley, Leader of Wealden District Council. “Being a District Councillor is very rewarding and you really will be able to make a difference in your local community.”

A member of the public considering standing for election spoke to Uckfield FM:

Cllr Louise Eastwood, Mayor of Uckfield and Cllr Donna French were at the exhibition and indicated that they both may stand for election in the District Council elections.
