Play Area Equipment stolen at Hempstead Recreation Ground

Uckfield Town Council is looking for the support of local residents and users of the Hempstead Recreation Ground, play area and the nearby Hempstead nature reserve over the next few days and weeks.

Town Clerk Holly Goring said in a statement:

‘Unfortunately at the end of June, the chain and seat from the zip-wire in Hempstead Recreation Ground were stolen. Our Grounds staff have now found evidence today that someone has been trying to remove another part of play area equipment from the recreation ground’

‘To remove this equipment would require someone to be able to reach a great height (requiring the use of a stepladder or equivalent), and appropriate tools (drills/spanners etc)’

‘Play area equipment is expensive, requires installation by specific well-trained contractors and has to be passed by relevant health and safety checks’

‘This is a therefore a serious matter, and has been reported to Sussex Police’

If anyone sees anything suspicious can they please contact Uckfield Town Council on 01825 762774 or admin@uckfieldtc.gov.uk or Sussex Police on 101 or 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk
