The National Citizen Service is a organisation for 15 to 17 year old.
Today, at the Uckfield Civic Centre in Uckfield a local group teamed up to raise awareness and funds for the Demelza, the Hospice Care for Children.
Demelza supports families who children who are terminally ill.
The event today included, hair styling and beauty, all day DJ, live dancers and singers, face painters, arts and crafts, art auction and a raffle.
The previous week the group had carried out a sponsored bike ride at Uckfield Freedom Leisure.
Uckfield FM’s Mike Skinner spoke with Team Leader Jasmine Walsh and Deputy Team Leader Freyer Kirby from the National Citizen Scheme.
Jean Pidgeon of Demelza told Uckfield FM
“The group (called Team Wealden 1) raised awareness of Demelza and raised a massive £702.95 for the charity by doing a response silent walk, sponsored bike ride (courtesy Freedom Leisure) and a Fun Day including a raffle with prizes donated from many local shops. They set up a Go Fund Me page too that local businesses contributed too”
