Lest We Forget Bench

The Manor Park and Hempstead Fields Residents’ Association had a simple ‘opening’ ceremony for the new ‘Lest We Forget’ seat that the Association has just installed adjoining the bus stop in Southview Drive on Saturday.

The Chairman of Wealden District Council Chris Hardy was in attendance – the bench is on Wealden’s land, along with members of Uckfield Town Council who awarded a grant towards the cost, Emily Henkin who represented CPJ Field, the funeral director, which made a generous donation towards the cost. and members of the British Legion who were well represented

There was a short simple ceremony, with Chairman Paul Sparks saying a few words and then the ribbon was cut by Georgina Gamble from Uckfield the mother of a young soldier that died 10 years ago on active service, to open the bench
