Charity collection stolen from Bishops Butchers

Nearly £300 has been stolen from a charity box from a Butchers in the High Street.

Bishops took to social media yesterday to report that on Wednesday a charity collection tub was stolen.

They said:

‘On Wednesday 21st March around 12.30pm our charity collection tub for the Uckfield & District Lions club for the Easter egg basket raffle was stolen, we had manage to raise nearly £300 to help fund the air ambulance and are just devastated that some one would steal from a charity’

‘The Uckfield District Lions club have said that they shall honour the raffle and it will be drawn as planed on Easter Sunday’

‘The police have been informed and we urge that if anyone has any information or knows of the person who has done this shallow crime to please get in contact with us on 01825762820’

‘The team are absolutely gutted that this has happened, we have worked with the lions club for many years to help fundraise to their chosen cause and we are saddened that all that money has been stolen’

Uckfield Lions have opened a Go Fund Me site to help to recover the money.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said ‘Police have been made aware of this theft’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or phone 101, quoting serial 226 of 22/03.
