Bex chats with Jacqui Rushton
Well we’re back from our fantastic holiday and I’m still catching up on everything! I only had a day to recover from our night flight and then drove to the Cotswolds for a photo workshop for 3 days. Since then I’ve been working hard on my bexphoto website as I’m making some changes before I properly launch my business as I’ve never actually tried to promote it short of discussing it on air occasionally with Jacqui! I’m so excited and can’t wait to get started taking on more bookings this year!
Anyway, I’ve managed to go through our holiday photos and write a review of the Trendy Lara Hotel in Turkey and I can’t wait to chat to Jacqui about it on Thursday at 11:30am, make sure you tune in then or listen live online!
We had an amazing time in Antalya, Turkey. The hotel we booked was fantastic with great food, a gorgeous room and what essentially turned out to be our own pool! Having booked a swim-up room, we were in the area with other villas around one big pool and the only other access was through a locked gate. Only 3 of the other villas were occupied so we had the pool to ourselves pretty much all the time. The whole place was so well maintained and had its own small water park for adults and kids too as well as a kids club so we were able to properly relax for a couple of hours at a time on a few of our 7 days.
The kids loved it, especially the play park and we all came back happy after a proper chill out break in the sunshine. If you want to read more and see all of my favourite photos of the resort, check out my full review on Olive Dragonfly Blog now. I’d definitely recommend the hotel!
I am feeling more like myself again and felt the need for my wardrobe to reflect that so I have been shopping! I’ve injected more colour back into my wardrobe, starting with a few holiday buys. Check out my latest finds here if you’re after some fashion inspo for summer, including my jazzed up crocs with rainbow pom poms!
I thoroughly enjoyed a long weekend away in Cheltenham with fellow photography geeks in an amazing house with a hot tub! We packed in loads of learning as well as a couple of family shoots which I loved. I left feeling so inspired and with a more clear idea of my brand – basically me – and I love colour so I’m getting a logo redesign to reflect that and have been working hard on my website to represent me and my business better! If anyone is interested in booking a session, keep an eye out in August as I will be doing a promotional launch offer.
I didn’t actually take a single photo at the Uckfield Festival Big Saturday! It was insanely hot and we didn’t stay long in the end, Priya started crying asking to go home as she was too hot and there wasn’t really any shade so we headed back to our paddling pool after an hour. We did manage to say hi to the Uckfield FM guys and enjoy a free ice-cream from the church group but the kids didn’t even want their faces painted, they were just melting!
I received a fab new subscription box for kids by Willow & Wild Box, which is a great way to keep the kids entertained over the summer! It’s designed around nature and getting the kids outdoors which is right up our street and I love having easy activities to keep the twins occupied. The twins’ favourite thing in the boxes we received were the popcorn box and popcorn, they couldn’t wait to pop their munchies and then we watched the original Willy Wonka film while enjoying them.
We can’t wait to plant our baby sweetcorn seeds, there was even a recipe for what we could make with our crop and we have ingredients to make wild flower seed balls too. The packaging was lovely and bright with personalised stickers with the twins’ names on and fitted through our letterbox easily. Read my full review and see what else was included on the blog now.
We’ve got a christening this weekend and I’m really excited about a girls’ night out I have coming up in Brighton with a bit of karaoke! The twins and I will hopefully be getting out and about to a few local places this summer too but Nik’s back to the studying now as he has part two of his exam coming up so I’m hoping to arrange lots of play dates with friends to keep me company with the kids. Keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates and inspiration 😉 I’ll be back in my usual slot of the first Thursday of the month too so not long to wait for the next update!
