In local football, AFC Uckfield Town’s big game against Sutton Common Rovers in the FA Vase was postponed on Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch at the Oaks. The match has provisionally been re-arranged for next Saturday afternoon.
Not surprisingly, all of the games involving our main local village teams were also postponed due to the weather.
Elsewhere, Lewes did manage to play their home game with Leatherhead in the Bostik Premier Division. A single goal just before half-time was enough to give Lewes all three points.
And Brighton and Hove Albion came back from conceding a goal in the first minute to gain a two-one win at Huddersfield. The victory takes the Seagulls up to eleventh place in the Premier League table, ahead of tomorrow night’s home clash with Crystal Palace.
In rugby union, Uckfield’s brilliant unbeaten record continued on Saturday, as they overcame closest rivals Crawley by 21 points to 17 to make it ten wins out of ten.
Finally, for local horse racing fans, there’s another meeting at Plumpton this afternoon, with the first race due off at half past twelve.
