In Saturday’s local cricket, Uckfield Anderida had to settle for a draw, after being thwarted by an unbroken last wicket stand at Newhaven, which denied them a second successive win. Matt Reed was again in fine form for Uckfield, taking six for 45.
In the Sussex Premier League, Buxted Park suffered a second defeat, going down by 28 runs at Glynde and Beddingham.
Elsewhere in the East Sussex League, Newick had a good 21-run victory at home to St Peters of Brighton, with Scott Warren taking five wickets. And there was also a five-wicket haul for Fletching’s Harry Mann, as they got the better of Keymer and Hassocks by just four runs in a low-scoring match.
Nutley had a three-wicket win at Dicker. But, there were defeats for Maresfield and Blackboys.
And Sussex’s county team’s first match at Eastbourne for 17 years ended in disappointment yesterday, as they were beaten by six wickets by Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
In speedway, there was a convincing victory for the Eastbourne Eagles on Saturday night, as they defeated Stoke by 58 points to 32 at the Arlington Stadium.
