Uckfield Cyclist qualifies for World Championship Event

Congratulations to Uckfield-based Sally Turner, who has qualified to represent Great Britain in the World Union Cyclist Internationale time-trial event in France in August.

She qualified as a silver medallist at a recent competition in Glasgow, missing out on a gold medal by just six seconds.

Sally grew up in the town and went to Holy Cross School and Uckfield Community Technology College. She currently teaches at Warden Park Academy.

In recent years, Sally has enjoyed great success in the triathlon and duathlon. In fact, she only took up the triathlon in 2014 and in her first year she qualified to represent Britain in her age group, finishing fourth in the world.

Sally is focusing on cycling this year and is very excited at the prospect of competing in the upcoming world championship event in France.

However, Sally is on the lookout for funding to help boost her chances. She needs £1,500 to fund a new disc wheel and a further £1,000 to help pay for travel and accommodation costs. Anyone interested in supporting Sally on her journey to the championships in France can contact her by e-mailing sturner@wardenpark.co.uk.
