There was silence in Uckfield this morning at 11am when remembrance was held at the War Memorial at Holy Cross Church.
The event was led by Father John Wall, the Rector of Uckfield with the traditional loud maroons being fired at 11am to start the silence.
99 years after the end of World War One member of the British Legion, town councillors including the Mayor of Uckfield , Cllr. Louise Eastwood and a group of residents looking on in the rain.
Traffic was halted in Church Street and drivers stood by their cars for the silence.
Staff at Uckfield Civic Centre paused to respect the two minute’s silence.
After the service it was announced by the Poppy Appeal organiser Diane Ward that a poppy box had been stolen from the church during the week.
