The landlord of the premises containing dangerous picric acid has informed Uckfield FM that it has been removed.

The news came in a email to the station at 4:10pm on Monday 4th December and was later confirmed by the Town Clerk at the full Council Meeting.

Mr Kevin Benton said ‘ I can confirm that the picric has now been removed. It was a very delicate operation’

‘My thanks to Peter Brown of the Sussex Police Firearms and explosives department. It has been a 6 week operation initiated by myself and two specialists’

The Town Clerk Holly Goring confirmed that she had a update from the District Council that arrangements were in hand and the ‘most hazardous’ chemical has been removed.

The Mayor of Uckfield Cllr. Louise Eastwood publically thanked the Clerk for her hard work on this matter.
