The public footpath that runs through Hempstead Meadow Local Nature Reserve will be closed from Monday 17th July for approximately 4 weeks for improvements.
The contractor will be gaining access to the Hempstead Road Playing Field via Ironstone Way.
There will be approximately 3-4 lorry movements per day to deliver stone etc.
Access will be closed to the public from the bottom of Hempstead Field through to the High Street.
The public will still be able to gain access to the reserve at the Waitrose car park end only
The works are to improve the footpath including boardwalks being replaced with raised stone causeways built from clean brickyard rubble topped with ‘Type 1’ roadstone, to match the sections of stone path already in place between the boardwalks.
Repairs will also be carried out to the washed-out section of stone path to the west of the boardwalks, and the whole length of path will have a fresh layer of fine stone added to the surface to provide a smoother finish.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period of improvements.
