Dogs to appear in a calender to raise money for charity.

Black Dog Home Boarding was established in 2007 and is run by Jane Palmer.

Jane has a team of Home Boarders -primarily people without dogs, who love looking after other peoples dogs and provide home from home care for doggies whilst their owners are on their holidays which is a wonderful alternative to kennels.

2 years ago, whilst training for the London Marathon, Jane and her husband were looking for other ways to raise money for the Guide Dogs charity they were running for and Jane thought about putting together a calendar, featuring pictures of our clients dogs, and sell it to raise money. They have done this for the last 2 years.

The group were asked do it again for 2018 and this time Jane wanted to do something different.

The Firefighters charity was suggested as a number of their sitters who have connections to people within the service, so together with Jane’s friend Mani Gilbert King who is Borough Commander of Wealden and Eastbourne Fire and Rescue, they hatched the idea of getting their clients dogs to come to  fire stations and have their pictures taken with firefighters and fire engines!!

There will also be important fire safety message throught the calendar as the best of the pictures will go on the calendar and be sold to raise funds for this wonderful charity and a percentage of the funds raised will also go to Smokey Paws -who supply pet oxygen masks to the Fire Service and other animal related business.

They have already visited Crowborough, Eastbourne and Heathfield fire stations.

The team will visited the Uckfield fire station to complete the last “on location” photo shoot for our 2018 calendar.

At the end of the photo shoot, over 40 dogs would have attended, all beautifully behaved and creating some fantastic shots alongside the resident firefighters and fire equipment.

The 2018 Charity Calendar will be available to purchase online from end of September from their website here.
